Tomatoes love a British summer more than the British do. With the right variety and a sunny spot, you'll be eating your own by July.

Start with 'Shirley' or 'Gardener's Delight'

Both are forgiving croppers that handle a damp summer without sulking.

A weekly tomato feed is plenty. Earlier than that and you'll get all leaf, no fruit.
