A starter kitchen herb garden

Herbs are the most useful plants you'll ever grow. Even a single pot of mint by the back door earns its keep.

Start with four

Mint, rosemary, thyme and basil cover most weeknight cooking and forgive a missed watering.

Plant mint in the ground and it'll annex the lawn. Keep it potted.

Snipping a few leaves encourages bushier plants. Letting them flower is for the bees, not the kitchen.
